Moroccan Glam Backyard Wedding

west_wedding_2018_72

Can you believe we had two weeks to pull this glamorous, color-saturated wedding off!?! It gives me hives just thinking about it again. But when your sister says she’s going to run off to Vegas to finally marry her man of 10+ years to avoid the stress of a full-blown wedding, you do whatever you can to give her her dream wedding filled with family and friends but none of the choices she was dreading to confront.

Luckily I know my sister like the back of my hand and was excited to throw our team into the throes of creative bliss, bringing to life a wedding that she never dreamed she could have. Her love for jewel tones, cultural patterns, and sparkle dictated our decor.

Knowing her wedding would be taking place outdoors, we hung cafe lights and antique chandeliers for an amazing lighting effect. Our mismatched collection of china was put to good use at each place setting and a Mediterranean food buffet was up-scaled with vintage carnival glass and copper bowls. Swagged material and backdrop curtains transformed the under-deck bar and cake table area, while patterned table runners, an antique black and gold chest and a vintage gold bar cart made everything scream glam.

Long rows of guest tables displayed various patterned table runners on wine colored linens. Floral centerpieces were created and placed in vintage urns and jewel-colored carnival glass. Zinnias, roses, billy balls and wax flowers were just some of the floral stems we used to create a kaleidoscope of colored flower arrangements.

For their ceremony, a simple copper arch was draped with tropical fronds, draping floral and color, color, color. A Mandela, tasseled rug was placed underneath to bring pattern to the setup. Against the wooded backdrop, the arch popped.

To say the day was perfect would be an understatement. The colors, the lights, the gypsy music and the very best in family and friends all came together to celebrate the love of these two.

Thank you to our friend Shillawna Ruffner for being a part of everything that day and capturing every little moment and detail!

Chris and Delaine’s Old World Wedding

49140969502_f8b14f7618_oDelaine and Chris were absolutely not looking for love when they met in a local bar back in 2016, but love certainly found them. Both being single parents, Chris of 3 kids and Delaine of 4, they knew they had to be smart and take things slow. They wanted to make sure they were serious about each other before introducing their children. It has now been over two years since they joined families, and they haven’t looked back.

Moongate Side ViewIMG_8154 cropped

The couple said their “I dos” in front of a lavish, floral moongate that took our team hours to bring to life – BUT SO WORTH IT! They had asked us to create a stunning, old-world ceremony in the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse, so we lined the aisle with clusters of floating candles in various shades of plum and lilac colored water, making for a gorgeous candle-lit glow of color! We sat them on wood boxes with floral and greenery tucked in and around them.

They said they wanted their wedding to be an “epic” affair. And our team delivered!

Guests were treated to a cocktail hour game of “Name That Movie” as soundtrack music was played from some of their favorite films and TV series such as Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and Gladiator. The guests with the most right answers got to choose from a selection wine as their prize.

For their decor we brought in regal candelabras, aged metals, and beautiful fresh flowers. A decadent feast table of fruits and cheeses were laid out for guests to enjoy before the main dinner. For their cake table we used a large antique box instead of a traditional cake stand and displayed silk gathered fabric, rustic fruits, antique silver goblets, dripping candelabras and cupcakes.

Their head table was graced by our wood tabletop arch and covered in lush floral and greenery plus a romantic touch we added – gold delicate sconces.

Everyone danced and ate like kings surrounded by candlelight within the magnificent walls of the Old Courthouse.

Garden Wedding Photoshoot at the Azalea Path for ENGAGED! Magazine

erv_azalea_path_styled_shoot_2019_21

It has always been my dream to do a wedding or photoshoot at the Azalea Path up in Hazelton, Indiana during their short two-week bloom time. But with Mother Nature, you never know when she will have them bloom. So, for years I’ve waited for the stars to align and make this shoot a possibility and IT FINALLY HAPPENED! With only a week to prepare, we were able to get our vendor friends involved and create this stunning, spring garden party wedding inspiration shoot. The crisp colors, the delicate spring blooms, the garden furniture, the perfect tea-length dress and birdcage veil, the scrumptious pastries and a little DIY flower pressing by yours truly made this shoot scream spring. We were a small but mighty team of 5 adults and 3 kids (since it was such short notice for childcare!) who made the trek to the incomparable Azalea Path and Botanical Gardens.

Take a look at all the lovely details below and catch some behind the scenes pics of us and our cutie pie kids because as mommas, we will make it work, kids on set and all!

Aaron and Stephanie’s Romantic Summer Wedding

StephanieAaron-719

Stephanie and Aaron’s love story began in 2016. Although they had both been active in their running group for many years, the group has hundreds of members, so it took awhile for them to find one another. One day at a run, Aaron spotted Stephanie and began asking other group members about her. Finally, with the help of a mutual friend, the two were connected. After a few weeks of talking and discovering their mutual love of running, movie quotes, and traveling they went on their first date. Two years of memories and many marathons later, Aaron popped the question in Chicago right before a big race.

Their wedding took place on a beautiful summer day at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Evansville, IN. After the ceremony, the couple celebrated with a reception at the Old Post Office. The decor embodied a classic and elegant look, perfect for the venue, and the white and blue color scheme looked absolutely timeless. We loved creating these blue and white Hydrangea floral arrangements and bouquets with African Thistle and silver dollar Eucalyptus. Floating candles, stemware, pops of navy and gold accents brought all the details together creating a romantic atmosphere for their friends and family.

Thank you Johnna Nedreberg Photography for sharing with us these wonderful photos!

Old World London and Sherlock Holmes Inspired Photoshoot

holmes_036

So, a couple years ago, my husband got me hooked on the Benedict Cumberbatch, Sherlock Holmes. I was already a fan of the Robert Downey Jr. movies, so I was instantly hooked on the brilliant dialogue, acting and dark Victorian-esque set design.

When it came time to design and do floral for an inspiration shoot for ENGAGED!, we completely nerded-out, bringing out all our vintage accessories, antique books, and old world details into the shoot. We really wanted to bring a sense of brilliant chaos to the table setting as if Sherlock was still solving cases even as his wedding was happening. A perfect vintage-style dress, spring wild-looking fresh flowers and a dapper suit brought it all together. Our team was amazing to work with and the photos captured by Laura Rush of Esther Bloom Photography are stunning!

One of my very favorite details was having the iconic Sherlock apartment wallpaper recreated on our wedding cake. For die-hard fans, this is a clever way of giving a subtle and stylish nod to the series. Macaroons and a modern caramel drip bring the cake a modern twist.

Take a look at all the beautiful details!

WINTER ROMANCE AT THE OLD COURTHOUSE

015

Romance, architecture and an Old World atmosphere that cannot be replicated in modern buildings – is it any wonder that Adam and Jessica chose The Old Courthouse for their beautiful winter wedding? We were excited to bring to life this romantic winter wedding using berries, evergreens, and classic white roses. A timeless winter style was created, perfect for their big day. Their ceremony took place in the Green Ballroom where we lined their aisle with candlelit lanterns and created two dramatic hanging lantern urns overflowing with greenery and floral.

For their dinner and reception, they utilized the mirroring White Ballroom where we decorated with candlelit centerpieces of mercury glass, greenery, floral, berries and more lanterns. Each guest was presented with a bronze alpaca and metal miniature church to honor the groom’s Peruvian heritage and their trip to Machu Picchu, where he popped the question to Jessica above the breathtaking scenery.

Their cake was lovingly baked by the groom’s grandmother. A favorite of Adam’s, her red velvet cake was a necessity for their wedding. We decked it out with red roses and berries to compliment the rest of the reception decor.

The joy and love all their family and friend’s felt that night was palatable as many speeches were made, tears shed, laughter shared and with any great event, dancing went on until midnight!

Thank you to Equinox Photo for sharing these beautiful photos with us!

Winter Romance for ENGAGED! Magazine

2G3A0302

Who ever said Winter Weddings aren’t as pretty as Spring or Summer! Our team set out to prove them wrong with this styled shoot for ENGAGED! Magazine. Drawing inspiration from our new fav color – dusty blue, we created a muted look that screamed romance.

2G3A0565

Set outdoors, the bare trees made for a perfect textured backdrop to our formal table of glassware, velvet antique chairs and gray and white vintage table.

Instead of going with a traditional 2 or 3 tier cake, we wanted to show off something new and invented the Petite Table Cake! Wouldn’t it be fabulous to attend a wedding where each table had it’s own cake for their guests! We thought so : )

2G3A9886

Seeded Eucalyptus, Italian Ruckus, lambs-ear, classic white roses and textured gray-blue berries paired perfectly with all our blue accents.

2G3A0362

One of our favorite creative details is the song lyric table runner and scrolled sign surrounded with roses and greenery and attached to a stately old tree. We loved the idea of a couple exchanging their vows in front of it.

2G3A06092G3A0546

Finally, our lovely couple were outfitted in a vintage styled dress and a classic gray suit. The addition of a faux fur blue blanket added just the right touch of texture and color.

We hope brides re-think Winter Weddings now!

Color Pop Summer Shoot for ENGAGED!

erv_wearable_florals_2018_165

This shoot was everything fun, colorful, life-filled and strong! Our team wanted to show off a sunny wedding style complete with textured floral fashion accessories by our friend Whitney Muncy of Emerald Design. Our stunning couple laughed their way through the entire shoot which made everything upbeat.

erv_wearable_florals_2018_48

For our cake, we used an assortment of floral textures and shapes. Whitney and I went to work creating a floral “boa” to wrap the simple white tiered cake from our friends at piece of cake.

And the texture did not just stop there. With greenery placemats, woven linen napkins, gold utensils, an embroidered table runner and hobnail orange goblets, set on a white table with a vintage velvet gold couch and drum copper stools for seating – the entire tablescape was the definition of eye-candy!

erv_wearable_florals_2018_70erv_wearable_florals_2018_189

One of our favorite details was what we dubbed the “sprouted pocket” that literally looks like it is blooming out of the suit jacket’s pocket. LOVE IT!

We hope all you brides out there take a cue from our color saturated shoot and be bold with your color schemes this year!

Duncan Wedding in New Harmony

View More: http://sakphotography.pass.us/duncanwedding

We loved working with Whitney and Andrew! They were one of the happiest couples and totally trusted us to bring their visions to life for their New Harmony Inn wedding.

Whitney loves pinks and burgundies along with seeded eucalyptus and an assortment of wildflowers but wanted a contrast of marble textures and modern geometric lines. We brought in all the flowers she loved with her bouquet and her bridesmaids bouquets.

She asked for a feast table in lieu of a horizontally oriented head table so their wedding party could all be gathered close and make for more natural conversation. We did greenery runners with floral on the head table and repeated the flowers and greenery with table arrangements, floating candles, geometric glass and medal candle holders and beautiful bouquets.

Their day began bright and beautiful but just a HALF HOUR before their ceremony, the heavens opened up and their outdoor plans had to be ditched. Thankfully we had decorated a beautiful backdrop with hanging geo candles, swagged greenery and floral so they still had a stunning place inside to take their vows.

They didn’t let the rain strip their joy and went on to have a fantastic night of laughter, dancing and love!
